Overall, the Learning Indonesian Premium program is similar to the free lessons, but goes much more in-depth to develop your language skills. It is just as easy to start with Premium, so we strongly encourage you to begin as early as possible in your learning process.
While using the free lessons is helpful for people who are only casually interested in learning some basics, switching over to the Premium track is the only way to develop solid conversational skills that you can use with native speakers. Surprisingly, it is actually easier to learn as well, as each lesson is longer and the forced recall memory techniques are more effective at this length. In short, you will learn more and it will feel a lot easier!
Here is what is included in the Premium program:
- Each Course Pack contains 8 Full-length MP3 Audio Lessons in the same familiar format as the free lessons. These are longer and go into much more depth.
- Each Course Pack also contains 1 or more story-based listening comprehension exercises. These give you practice understanding Indonesian as it is spoken by native speakers at normal speed.
- Copies of the same existing Free PDF guides up to Lesson 48, Premium-only guides in Course Pack 7 and beyond, as well as additional extended guides where necessary.
- As you advance, lessons transition to full Indonesian-based instruction. The best way to learn is to immerse yourself, and we provide a simple, effective way to make the transition easy!

When should I switch to the Premium lessons and where should I start?
The Premium lessons allow you to naturally learn a lot faster than the free lessons due to the increased length and better recall spacing. The effect of this is quicker as well as larger vocabulary acquisition. Due to the nature of memory and language learning, the repetition spacing in the premium format allows for faster learning and significantly better recall later.
If you have been using the free lessons, you can switch according to this schedule:
Free Lessons 1-16 - Begin with Premium Lesson 1 or Premium Course Pack 1Free Lessons 17-32 - Begin with Premium Lesson 9 or Premium Course Pack 2
Free Lessons 33-48 - Begin with Premium Lesson 17 or Premium Course Pack 3
It's important to understand that the free lessons are derived from the premium lessons. Because of this, there will be more vocabulary review the longer you wait. While this will slow down your progress, it also results in more practice. Many premium users find the review helpful but at the cost of some unnecessary repetition.
